Farrell and Parkin: Topography of a Collaborative Mind
A Survey Exhibition 1984–2010
Curator: Diane Soumilas
23 September–17 October 2010

Glen Eira City Council Gallery (Caulfield,VIC) is delighted to present this feature exhibition, which surveys the artistic practice of nationally and internationally renowned collaborative photographers Rose Farrell and George Parkin. Key photographs and videos from their major series created between 1984 and 2010 have been selected by Curator Diane Soumilas for inclusion in the exhibition. Farrell and Parkin are widely known for their enigmatic, theatrical and technically complex constructed photographs and exploration of lost historical medical procedures and healing remedies.

More than 70 photographs drawn from major public collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Monash Gallery of Art, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Artbank, AlburyCity Art Gallery and Horsham Regional Art Gallery will be included in the exhibition. Photographs on loan from important private collections in Australia will also be featured.

Farrell and Parkin’s mysterious and compelling photographs are not to be missed.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Heide Museum of Modern Art Director and CEO Jason Smith on Wednesday 22 September at 6.30pm, with a welcome by Glen Eira Mayor Cr Steven Tang.
