Ingo Kleinert at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre

Posted 31 July 2010 - Coinciding with his current show 'Rejoining the Land' and the publication of his new monograph 'Two Decades' , Ingo Kleinert will have an exhibition in the Foyer Gallery of the Wangarratta Performing Arts Centre from 31 July - 12 September 2010.

This exhibition brings together a suite of 1989 photographic works by Ingo Kleinert on loan from the Albury City Collection and recent works made from iron and recycled materials, courtesy of the Boutwell Draper Gallery, Sydney. The juxtaposition of these two series created almost 20 years apart shows a continuity of ideas and interests that inform the works.

Large format photographs titled Relics and Topiary, explore objects that once adorned manicured gardens, now forgotten and left untended to decay. The patina of age of these objects continues to hold interest for Kleinert, whose recent artworks carry the same traces and reference to materials that are central to the meaning and aesthetics of his work.
